Choose the split from the final layout

Grid tools divide one canvas into ordered image tiles; row and column tools divide in one direction; merge does the reverse. Decide the final number of posts or panels and their display order before slicing, because each tile inherits the source composition.

How the key settings affect the result

These terms describe different parts of the job. Knowing which one the destination checks prevents unnecessary quality loss.

Rows and columns

Rows count horizontal bands; columns count vertical bands. A 3×3 grid creates nine files, while one row and three columns creates three vertical slices.

Tile dimensions

Each tile width is based on source width divided by columns; tile height is based on source height divided by rows. Non-divisible pixels may require edge rounding.

Master aspect ratio

The source canvas should match the combined shape of the final layout. Cropping the master after splitting will no longer line up across panels.

Reading order

File numbering and upload order determine how the pieces appear. Check the preview and filenames rather than assuming left-to-right order on every destination.

Seams and safe areas

Important text placed across a cut can become hard to read. Keep faces, logos, and captions away from boundaries unless the seam is intentional.

Output consistency

Every tile should use the same format and dimensions when the destination expects a uniform grid.

What you can do in the browser

Splitting and merging happen on the local canvas in your browser. The workflow is fast for ordinary social and banner assets; extremely wide masters or many high-resolution inputs can still consume substantial memory.

  • Generate equal grid, row, or column segments from one source image.
  • Merge multiple images into a single combined canvas.
  • Download ordered files and keep the master for future layout changes.

Common failure cases

Check these before downloading or submitting the result.

Designing each tile separately

Small spacing differences become obvious when the pieces meet. Build one master canvas when the final result should appear continuous.

Putting text on a seam

A cut through letters or faces makes each standalone tile weak. Mark boundaries during design and keep key content inside safe areas.

Uploading in the wrong order

A correct split can still display as a scrambled composition. Follow the generated preview and destination ordering.

Starting from too few pixels

Every split gets only a fraction of the source. Make sure each resulting tile still has enough resolution for its use.

Assuming all platforms use the same crop

A destination may crop previews even when the files are correct. Test the final arrangement in the real publishing interface.

  1. Design one master image with a 3×3 boundary overlay.
  2. Keep important content away from the eight internal seams.
  3. Split, inspect all nine files, and upload in the order shown by the destination.

  1. Plan a wide narrative with one panel per step.
  2. Use the appropriate row or column split for the master orientation.
  3. Check that every panel works alone and that adjacent panels join as intended.

Rebuild a single banner

  1. Normalize the source images to compatible heights or widths.
  2. Arrange them with Merge Images in the intended order.
  3. Inspect seams and resize the combined output only after the layout is final.
